thrill of the hunt

yesterday on photobooth, there was some photography that reminded me of home. it is hunting season and i love these representations of those who bear the cold dawn to go out and try to bring something home directly from the land.

(p.s. that's a woman in the treestand!)

i have to say that despite all the bad stereotypes and the occasional unabashed redneckedness of it all, i love the midwest. a lot of times i believe that the hardworking people of my corner of the country know more about life than any of us, what with their experience cultivating and killing it in farming, hunting, growing, harvesting. i respect such knowledge deeply. there's something very pure about it.
